The title Chain Reactions refers to the actions of the players. They react as soon as a predetermined condition is met, such as the entry of other players. This creates a continuous chain of musical reactions.
The first piece, Rast, is based on the tones of the Maqam Rast.
The second piece, Jurjina, is based on the rhythmic cycle Iqa’ Jurjina
